Fabergé Friday

So, let's take a look at another pretty Fabergé brooch! This one was made around 1900!

This 1.5'' x 1.5'' x 0.7'' (3.7 x 3.7 x 1.9 cm) sized brooch is made of a cabuchon calcedony surrounded by a wreath-frame of rubies, green enamel leaves, and rose-cut diamonds. It was probably acquired by Queen Alexandra, and is now part of the Royal Collection

Alexander Siradekian S/S 2015

When Alexander Siradekian designs his shoes, he strives to emphasize the beauty of the female foot and adorn it with graceful lines, but at the same time not forgetting about comfort and convenience. For his S/S 2015 collection Siradekian took inspiration from Vivaldi's four violin concertos Four Seasons. The colors of the shoes remind me of fresh green leaves, lilacs, rhododendron and other flowers, and they are all adorned with Siradekian's signature tassel-tail. Here are a few examples from the collection. To see them all, go here!

I just found a latex designer I hadn't seen before - William Wilde. Wilde has specialized as a bespoke Bridal wear cutter, fetish wear designer and custom designer at luxury Soho nightclub The Box in London. He has also worked in Vegas, designing costumes for a show, and dressed several celebrities. In 2010 he revealed his debut latex collection - Madame Boucherie - which became an instant success. All latex pieces are made by hand, and sometimes combined with luxury fabrics, signature prints, and other detailing. Here are a few of my favorite picks. For more, please visit his website!

Fabergé Friday

This week's Fabergé object is a beautifully embellished little box. It was made by workmaster Mikhail Perkhin, sometime before 1896!

The 1.5'' x 5.4'' x 3.7'' (3.8 x 13.7 x 9.3 cm) size box is made of bloodstone. It is heavily decorated with gold ornaments in the neo-rococo style, set with rose-cut diamonds.

The box was presented by the daughters of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna to King George V, and is now part of the Royal Collection.

One Photo...

When I have written about different burlesque events here, I have mostly used pictures by photographer John-Paul Bichard. He is a very talented photographer who's always working on some new, exciting project. Except for the pics he has taken of me during burlesque performances, I have wanted to do a proper shoot with him for a long time. Right now he's working on something amazing, together with an artist, and when he asked me if I wanted to be part of it, I - of course - said yes! As a thank you for throwing my clothes off for his camera (yep, I'm naked again... Haha!), he also took a portrait of me after the main shoot. This one...

With the dark background, soft light, and the fact that I'm hardly wearing any makeup, it reminds me of an old baroque or renaissance painting. I'm also wearing a long pearl necklace entwined in my hair. But that was to get the right look for the project we did the shoot for. Unfortunately I can't tell you more about this project yet, as it's not ready to be shown to the world. I actually haven't seen much of it myself. So we all have to wait...

Fabergé Friday

Cold January is a good month for sitting inside playing card. And of course you need a nice card box to put your deck in! Like this one by Fabergé for example. It was made by workmaster Mikhail Prekhin, around 1890.

The box is made of aventurine quartz, and decorated with gold ornaments, rose-cut diamonds and olivines. On top sits the initials of Grand Duchess Xenia of Russia, who first owned it. It was later acquired by Queen Mary of the United Kingdom, which now makes it part of the Royal Collection. The dimensions of the card box are 3.5'' x 2.5'' x 1.9'' (9 x 6.4 x 4.7 cm).

New Dress

I got two dresses from Santa this year - one new, and one vintage. This is the new one!

It's from H&M and made of powder-pink, slightly shiny lace over an under-dress in the same color. I think it's perfectly fine to wear light or pastel colors even in the winter. It's all about the design of the dress. With the high neckline and long sleeves this one has it's perfect for colder weather!

Another thing that was hiding under the Christmas tree with my name on it is this little vintage purse. Even though it's small, it still has good room inside for necessary things, such as powder, red lipstick, iPhone and a small vibrator. You know, things you can't leave the house without... Haha!

Accessories: Leather Gloves, A Riding Crop.... And A Cat

A while ago I did a shoot with photographer Jonas Mattsson. The location was his apartment, and since he has a cat - Nina - I ended up with her as a co-model. She was very curious about what we were doing and found my riding crop to be a fun toy. As she was running in front of the camera all the time, we let her be part of a few of the photos.

The only light we used was the sun shining in through the window, and the lingerie I'm wearing in most of the photos are from Dita Von Teese's lingerie collection Von Follies. And here is the result!

Nina playing with my crop...

This pic was taken through the glass of an open window.

I love this last photo! While Jonas was changing the film in his camera I was cuddling with Nina. Just when she gave me a good head boop he snapped this pic. I wasn't ready for it at all! Haha!

Fabergé Friday

It's Fabergé egg-time again! There are SO many little egg-pendants from his workshop out there! This one is very unusual though. It was made by workmaster Feodor Afanasiev, sometime between 1908 and 1917.

The egg is carved from ivory, and sits in a piece of gold "egg shell".

The height of the egg is 3/4'' (1,8 cm), and it was sold to an unknown buyer from Romanov Russia.

Forbidden Drinking...

During the Prohibition, that lasted between 1920-1933 in the US, and forbade any sale, production importation, and transportation of alcoholic beverages, the speakeasy became the place to socialize at. These speakeasies were bars that illegally sold booze to their customers behind locked doors. Some of these popular places were run by criminals, and even though the police would sometimes raid the bars and arrest both the owners and their customers, the speakeasies were so profitable they continued to flourish. Photographer Margaret Bourke-White were able to take some photos at a few of these notorious bars in 1933 - the year the Prohibition ban was lifted, and therefor meant the speakeasies could take the locks off their doors. I found her photos in LIFE Magazine's archives. And here they are! Illegal drinking...

Full Moon

Source

I've missed doing a few of these Full Moon posts the last couple of months. But here we go again! The moon-music I want to share with you this time is Slept So Long with Jay Gordon. The song was featured on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, and I really like the feeling I get from listening to this one...

Fabergé Friday

Christmas and New Years are over, and so is my blog-break. I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays and ringing in the new year! I had a calm Christmas with my family and LOTS of food! But now we're back to normal, and since it's Friday, here comes another Fabergé object - a rare jewelled gold fan! It was made by workmaster Henrik Wigström, around the year 1910.

The fan is beautifully painted with dancing figures in early 19th century clothes and signed Charlott. The sticks holding up the painted leaf are made of pierced and gilded mother-of-pearl. The two guards are of matte finish gold with ribbon-tied reed borders. One of them is applied with collet-set brilliant-cut diamonds and rubies, and the rose-cut diamond-set crowned cipher of Crown Princess (later Queen) Alexandrine of Denmark. The other guard is set with diamonds and sapphires. The length of the fan is 8.5'' (21.7 cm).
